Intern UCO 2016-2017 Cohort

Intern Commitments

Year Long Program

Intern UCO will consist of a cohort of approximately 30 student interns annually. The program will begin the first week of the fall semester and will conclude during the last week of the spring semester. The intern will work in a UCO on-campus department a maximum of 10 hours a week during the fall and spring semester. The interns will be paid at a rate of $10 per hour.

Intern Orientation

Interns will kick off their internship at a orientation held the first weeks of school.  The orientation will introduce interns to the program expectations. It will also provide interns the opportunity to connect and build relationships with fellow interns.

Monthly Meetings

Intern UCO students will further enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Central Six tenets by attending mandatory monthly meetings. The 2-hour professional development series is facilitated by the Career Development Center and are intended to enhance students’ professional develop on a variety of topics relevant to their work and the Central Six tenets.

Career Readiness Certificate

Students that attend 100% of in-person professional development sessions OR 8 sessions plus “The Crash Course” will receive a Certificate of Career Readiness. The certificate signifies that students have become competent in the eight areas of career readiness as defined by The National Association of Colleges and Employers: Critical Thinking/Problem Solving, Oral/Written Communications, Teamwork/Collaboration, Information Technology Application, Leadership, Professionalism/Work Ethic, Career Management, and Global/Intercultural Fluency.

Attendance Policy

The orientation and monthly meetings are a required component of the program. If interns miss scheduled monthly meetings for reasons other than class, the internship may be subject to termination from the program and result in a total loss of funding for the remainder of the academic year.
